Move existing TablePress tables into Simple Responsive Tables with a straightforward migration workflow.

SRT TablePress Import is an optional add-on for Simple Responsive Tables. It helps WordPress site owners migrate their existing TablePress table data into Simple Responsive Tables without manually rebuilding each table.

The add-on is designed to make migration more convenient while preserving the original TablePress tables.

Features

1. TablePress table discovery

  • Detect existing TablePress tables.
  • Support modern TablePress storage and legacy storage formats where available.
  • Display the available source tables and their identifiers.
  • Show the original TablePress shortcode associated with each table.

2. Individual table import

  • Import a selected TablePress table.
  • Convert its available table data into the format used by Simple Responsive Tables.
  • Avoid requiring the user to recreate each table manually.

3. Bulk import

  • Import all available tables in one operation.
  • Select specific tables using individual checkboxes.
  • Select or deselect all eligible tables.
  • Import only the selected tables.

4. Import tracking

  • Track imported TablePress tables.
  • Record the relationship between the original TablePress table and the new Simple Responsive Tables table.
  • Keep a record of the original and new shortcode mappings.
  • Display imported-table records in the Simple Responsive Tables administration area.

5. Migration workflow

  • Access the importer from the WordPress administration area.
  • Review source tables before importing.
  • Continue using the original TablePress tables during the migration process.
  • Use the recorded shortcode mappings to help identify the new shortcode when updating existing content.

6. Integration with Simple Responsive Tables

  • Works as an optional add-on rather than a separate table builder.
  • Integrates with the main plugin’s administration interface.
  • Uses Simple Responsive Tables to manage and display the imported tables.

Important notes

  • TablePress must be installed and its table data accessible for migration.
  • The add-on imports table data; it does not guarantee automatic replacement of old TablePress shortcodes throughout the website.
  • The original TablePress tables are intended to remain untouched by the import process.
  • Shortcode usage detection is a separate feature that is still being investigated and is not currently reliable enough to advertise as a working feature.
